At Excel Fostering, we're embracing the theme of this year's Foster Care Fortnight: Fostering Moments. It's truly amazing to delve into the stories of those little fostering moments that have left a mark on the lives of our staff.
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to share some of these uplifting moments with you.
Chief operating officer, Debbie, shared hers…
“I supervised a family arrangement with two small children who didn’t make eye contact, did not want comforting, and them being able to attach to potential carers was a worry for all as this was the plan for their future. One year in, I went to supervise the carer and as I was leaving one of the children put their arms up for me to pick them up. I did and held them for a few seconds, and they asked to be put down. I was such a significant moment, one I will never forget, they both went on to be matched to adopters together in the next year.”
We also caught up with James, our fostering recruitment advisor who shared his satisfaction at seeing potential recruits become fully fledged foster carers…
“One of the first IVs I completed in my first month with the company, a wonderful couple, Yvonne, and Marshall have now been approved.
They are a great couple, and I am delighted for them. I spoke with them earlier this week to congratulate them and hope to catch up with them in person very soon.
It’s so special to be part of someone’s fostering journey.
Foster Care Fortnight is The Fostering Network’s annual campaign to raise the profile of fostering and show how foster care transforms live.
