Elliot is a talented freelance media producer with a unique vision and a passion for storytelling. As a care experienced young person, Elliot has faced his share of challenges, but he’s chosen to channel his experiences into creativity, using his work behind the camera to capture powerful moments and narratives.
Elliot’s journey has been one of resilience and self-discovery. While reflecting on his time in care, he acknowledges the impact it has had on him but remains determined not to let it define his future.
“That pain, it will either consume you or it will fuel you.”
And for Elliot, it has certainly been fuel. Discovering his love of media has given him a sense of purpose and direction. Having often felt like an outsider, he finds that this perspective enhances his storytelling, allowing him to connect deeply with his work.
“Memories can be fleeting, but when I catch something on camera it makes it permanent. That connection was something I never had as a kid.”
Though confident and outgoing today, Elliot has faced significant personal hurdles. His love for media and communications was always present, but anxiety sometimes made even leaving the house difficult. With the support of his girlfriend and his growing skills in media, he gradually built his confidence. The necessity of getting out and filming became an unexpected catalyst for personal growth, improving his social skills and self-assurance along the way.
Now self-employed, Elliot is thriving in his field. When he’s not behind the camera, he can be found raising funds for charity through his competition-winning costumes at Comic-Con.
Elliot was thrilled to receive a grant from the Capstone Care Leavers Trust to invest in new camera equipment, which is an essential step in expanding his media business.
“Being able to have a second camera is going to make all the difference. I have been using one camera for over a year. Now, with this second camera, I can create higher-quality productions. Sometimes the interviews I conduct are sensitive, so being able to catch B-footage is crucial.”
With his new equipment, Elliot is excited about the future, ready to take on more projects and produce even more impactful content.
Elliot’s story is a testament to resilience, creativity, and the importance of having the right support. His dedication to media not only fuels his career but also serves as a tool for self-expression and connection.
