September brings this years annual FosterTalk awards, and with it the opportunity to shine a light on the outstanding work and dedication of the UK’s foster carers, care leavers and social workers.
FosterTalk is an organisation which supports those who care, and they along with all of us at Excel Fostering believes that people who care deserve the highest recognition.
Supervising Social Worker, Jaqueline McMillan who put Devan forward for the nomination said, “it is through his hard work and continued resilience that he was able to achieve his dream of passing his exams and secured a place at collage.”
In fact, Devan continues to excel and is now entering his fourth year, equivalent to a university qualification. Jacqueline continues, “we cannot put into words how proud we are of him. This little boy has made it into a shining star of a young man.”
The Care Leaver of the Year category is a special one, as it really demonstrates the incredible outcomes that becoming a foster carer can have. Devan’s extraordinary spirit was always there, but through the dedication and nurturing of his foster parents he was able to grow into the remarkable young man that he has become today.
